Honeymoon: Native Style

M and I stayed in an apartment on our engagement trip in Paris. We're hooked! Apartment rentals are much more affordable and can be just as accommodating as staying at a hotel. It's called Self Catering. This type of travel may require a tiny bit more research and preparedness on your end. But I can't really remember the last time we used a concierge for something we couldn't have done on our own. If you were traveling with a group or another family, it would be a good way to share costs. The rentals all have kitchens. How fun would it be to shop at the local farmers market and prepare meals together? Here is the loft we're renting for one leg of our honeymoon in Rome. We found it on Romeloft.com. It's called the Panieri Loft and is located in Trastevere.

UPDATE

*Warning! Just returned from our honeymoon. All our acommodations were lovely, except the Panieri Loft. The pictures are deceiving. It was VERY dirty, like frat house yuck. The IKEA decor has not held up well. We arrived on the hottest day of the year. It was 97 degrees, but felt much hotter with the humidity. Being a loft, the bed was high, the temperature was higher. The apartment had a small A/C that was working hard to cool the space, but it just wasn't enough. The shower curtain was stained and the shower drain clogged. The water started to rise and there was no way I was trying to clear it. The internet didn't work as advertised. The people from Romeloft were very acommodating and sent someone out to solve the problem. He actually ended up giving us a great rec. for carbonara in Trastevere, Checco er Carettier. M checked and there was availability at fortyseven hotel. We've stayed there before. 2 Hours at Panieri Loft was enough. Thanks to M for taking initiative and making the last 3 nights of the honeymoon cool and comfortable.

P.S. We haven't given up on self catering.
