maison la minervetta

Thanks to M, we babymooned in one of our favorite places in the world, La Minervetta. It's located in Sorrento, Italy. The views from the rooms look across the Gulf of Naples to Mount Vesuvius. The hotel is bright and cheery with floor to ceiling windows throughout. I guess I would describe the style as contemporary Italian eclectic. It is filled with collections of glass, pottery, art, and books. They are displayed in a quirky casual style that for some reason avoids being too kitschy and feels way cooler than grandma's house. They only serve breakfast, which is my favorite time of the day. It is a pumped up version of continental that they lay out on the hotel kitchen table. There are two women who take very good care of the property and their guests in the kitchen. They will whip up some eggs or espresso drinks served in Friends sized mugs. Overall it is just a relaxed inspiring experience. It's crazy to think the next time we go back it will be as a little family.
